Westgate’s Ninja Warrior Weekend
Super cool client Westgate Entertainment District is one such client. We have particularly enjoyed working on their creative advertising pieces, including their holiday television spots, creative for special events such as Skate Westgate and decals and posters for their support of a recent Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation campaign.
For anyone not familiar with Westgate, it is a one-stop hub for shopping, dining and entertainment. It features the Gila River Arena, home of the Arizona Coyotes, and is just across the street from the Arizona Cardinals’ home turf, the State Farm Stadium. Its claim to fame is the wide variety of awesome events it hosts, including everything from hot rod and motorcycle nights to live music and exercise parties.
The events at Westgate are so many and varied, that it didn’t really surprise me when I received an email from our client saying that they would be hosting their first-ever Westgate Ninja Warrior Weekend. The event was based off the popular hit TV show, American Ninja Warrior — how cool is that?!
Our friends at Westgate asked if we could turn around creative within a week for this special offering. They wanted to make a special splash because the event would feature celebrity athletes from the TV show along with a full-fledged ninja warrior course. Our client needed several print and digital assets to publicize this unique experience for use ahead of time and at the event itself. The team’s challenge was taking a TON of information – including a variety of logos and a whole lot of event info – and packaging it in a manner that was digestible and visually appealing to the public.
Of course, our creative advertising team is always up for a challenge and didn’t even blink an eye at the deadline or required list of deliverables. In fact, even with the rush request, our team presented creative options that exceeded our client’s expectations. From creating a simple, yet effective logo for the event to developing posters, A-frames, digital billboard, e-blast and digital banner ads (just to name a few), we delivered all materials as needed. This quick turnaround enabled our client to spend a full month publicizing the event and getting key materials ready to go.
Client Work – Up Close and Personal
The only thing cooler than developing the creative for this event was having the opportunity to participate in it myself. And I didn’t just check out our team’s on-site creative – I took on the ninja course myself! I unsuccessfully tackled a rolling log (twice) while my partner in crime tried several times to conquer a warped wall. And although Adam Rayl, 4-time American Ninja Warrior and 3 times National Finalist, tried to help me make my way across the ninja course, he couldn’t prevent me from falling off the seesaw launcher!
